Alexander von Geiger

Alexander Freiherr von Geiger (French: Alexandre de Geiger ; born August 23, 1808 at Schwarzenberg Castle (Scheinfeld) , † April 13, 1891 in Paris ) was a Franco-German industrialist and French politician.

Life

After graduating from high school in 1826, Alexander von Geiger studied at the (today's) Wilhelmsgymnasium Munich at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich , where he was active in the Corps Isaria and reciprocated in 1827, and at the Ruprecht Karls University in Heidelberg , where he joined the Corps Rhenania in 1828 became active. In 1835 he married Pauline Utzschneider, daughter of the Saargemünder faience manufacturer Paul Utzschneider. Through his marriage he became the owner of the Saargemünder faience factory. He was also a mine owner.

In the Second Empire he was from 1852 to 1868 for the Moselle département member of the legislative body. From 1868 to 1870 he was a member of the Senate .
