The house Alexanderstraße 23 is a building in Darmstadt .
History and description
The house was built around 1590. The Kleber brewery was located in the building .
In 1783 the building was rebuilt after a fire. During the renovation, the house was given an eaves mansard roof. The Fay brewery was then located in the building .
The building was badly damaged during World War II . After the war the house was rebuilt. During the renovation, the slate-covered mansard roof of the converted broadhouse was taken over.
The arrangement and structure of the windows does not correspond to the historical model.
Monument protection
The building comes from the first phase of the old suburbs . For architectural and city history reasons, the building is considered a cultural monument .
The house today
Today the building houses a student union ( Burschenschaft Germania ) and apartments.
