Alexandra Karle

Alexandra Karle (born July 17, 1967 in Frankfurt am Main ) is the managing director of Amnesty International Switzerland.

Life

Alexandra Karle studied political science, communication and law at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität Munich (LMU) between 1987 and 1992 and graduated with a Magister Artium . She also studied international law and journalism at the American University (AU) in Washington, DC in 1990/91, where she began her journalistic career as a freelancer at NBC International in Washington. After completing his studies, Karle completed a traineeship at Deutsche Welle (radio and TV) in Cologne, Berlin and Brussels, then switched to the regional political magazine of the WDR Westpol and from 1998 worked initially for the parliamentary editorial team of Sat.1 and later N24 in Bonn and Berlin . Karle worked for Welt / N24 as a reporter, head of duty and moderator. (Morning and lunchtime reports, political specials and talk formats). Karle was also a juror for the television category of the Axel Springer Prize for seven years.

Alexandra Karle has lived and worked in Switzerland since 2010. At first she wrote for various publications of the NZZ group and was in charge of web TV.

Alexandra Karle has been Managing Director of the Swiss section of Amnesty International as the successor to Manon Schick since June 1, 2020 . Since 2012 she has worked as a media spokesperson, then as program manager for communication & advocacy and as a member of the management team for the human rights organization.
