Alexandra Princess Galitzyn

Alexandra Galitzine Armor (born May 7, 1905 in Marijno , Novgorod , † December 5, 2006 in Lake Forest , Illinois ) was princess of the Galitzin Princely House , one of the most important of the Russian tsarist empire, and niece of the last Russian tsar Nicholas II by marriage .

Life

Alexandra married on September 1, 1928 in Chicago Rostislav Romanov (* November 24, 1902, † July 31, 1978), the son of Grand Duchess Xenia of Russia (1875-1960). This was a sister of Tsar Nicholas II. Thus Princess Alexandra was a niece of the last Tsar by marriage. Their marriage had an only child, Prince Rostislav Romanov (born December 3, 1938, † January 7, 1999). The marriage was divorced on November 9, 1944. In 1949 she married Lester Armor in New York (born March 21, 1895, † December 26, 1970). There were no other children from this marriage.

Princess Alexandra, like all of her sisters, enjoyed a special longevity. She only died ten years after the death of her last sister on December 5, 2006 at the old age of 101.

Alexandra was the last of the seven children of Prince Pavel (* May 18, 1856 - April 13, 1916) and his wife Alexandra Nikolaijewna Mestchersky (* September 28, 1864 - July 7, 1941).
