Alexandre Bordigoni
Alexandre Bordigoni (born April 13, 1865 ; died June 27, 1941 in Lancy ) was a Swiss architect with extensive work in Geneva .
Live and act
The family of the father, the flat painter Antoine Bordigoni, came from Graubünden . An apprenticeship in a Geneva architecture office and studies at the Ecole d'architecture et d'ornement de Genève are reported on Alexandre Bordigoni's training . Bordigoni, who received several prizes for the facade design of his houses, mainly built apartment buildings in Geneva, starting with the historicist forms of his time, shaped by the French Beaux-Arts tradition . After the turn of the century, Bordigoni cautiously turned to the Art Nouveau forms , which were mainly used in the applied decorative elements such as consoles, window frames and wrought iron work. Before the First World War , these elements became more reserved and - also following Parisian fashion - leaned more towards Louis-seize . In the 1930s, Bordigoni's designs were drawn from Art Deco .
