Alexandre Gentil Corte-Real de Araújo

Alexandre (Alexandrino) Gentil Corte-Real de Araújo is an East Timorese politician, judge, and civil servant.

Career

Corte-Real de Araújo joined the public service in the 1990s as a specialist in constitutional law. During the United Nations Interim Administration for East Timor (UNTAET), he worked as a judge at the Serious Crimes Unit (SCU) to solve the crimes during the crisis in East Timor in 1999 .

From 2001 to 2007 Araújo was a member of the Constituent Assembly for the União Democrática Timorense (UDT), which in 2002 became the national parliament of East Timor . Here he was a member of the Commission for Constitutional Affairs, Rights, Freedoms and Warranties (Commission A). However, he resigned his mandate early in order to obtain his master's degree in public law in Brazil .

From 2009 he was given a leading position in the secretariat of the newly founded Comissão da Função Pública (CFP, German  Commission of the Public Service ). On October 13, Corte-Real de Araújo was promoted by Parliament to Commissioner of the CFP. He held the office until May 29, 2015. At the same time, he was a member of the General Council of the Universidade Nasionál Timór Lorosa'e (UNTL) from January 2011 .
