Alexandru Macedonsky
Alexandru Macedonski (born March 14, 1854 in Craiova , † November 24, 1920 in Bucharest ) was a Romanian writer. It was based on the Parnassians , later on French symbolism .
Life
At the age of 16, Macedonski traveled to Austria-Hungary, Italy and Switzerland, then returned to Bucharest. As a reaction to the dominance of the Junimea society, he founded a school of poets in 1880, which was based on the newer currents of European literature. For example, inspired by Alfred de Musset , he wrote the cycle of poems Nopti ( Nights ).
After 1890 he preferred the shape of the rondeau . He also published a novel in French ( Le calvaire de feu ). Macedonski was one of the first to use blank verse and free rhythms in Romanian poetry.
His son Alexis and grandson Soare were painters.
