from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Soare "Alexandru" Alexis Macedonski (* 1910 in Romania, † 1928 (not as incorrectly sometimes stated in 1929) in Bucharest ) was a Romanian painter. His grandfather was the great Romanian writer Alexandru Macedonski .

life and work

Born into a family of intellectuals, his grandfather the writer Alexandru Macedonski , his father Alexis also a painter, Soare Macedonski came into contact with art and culture at an early age. He himself, also known as Solaro , exhibited for the first time at the age of five in the Bucharest Atheneum - albeit a somewhat childish work - as part of the Cenaclu Idealist alongside his father, Elena Popea , Corneliu Michăilescu and Ignat Bednarik . He received his artistic training from his father, who presumably settled in Paris in 1920. In 1929 he organized a solo exhibition for his son. The oeuvre of Soare Macedonski falls because of his early death from extremely low. In addition, some of his works were and are confused with those of his father due to the similarity of names.

The work Landscape (oil on cardboard; 27 × 22 cm) is presented in the permanent exhibition in the Muzeul Național de Artă al României , in whose collection it is also located.
