Boniface Haushiku
Bonifatius Haushiku (* probably 1935 in South West Africa ; † June 12, 2002 in Windhoek ) was a Namibian priest and first Archbishop of Windhoek and the first black Catholic bishop in Namibia.
Haushiku was born on the Okavango near Shambyu and attended the school of the Catholic mission station in Shambyu. He was ordained a priest on June 29, 1966. On November 15, 1978, the Pope was appointed auxiliary bishop in Windhoek and appointed titular bishop of Troyna . On January 27, 1979 he was ordained bishop by Rudolf Maria Koppmann and on November 29, 1980 he took over the leadership of the Apostolic Vicariate Windhoek . With the rise of the vicariate to the archbishopric, Haushiku became archbishop on March 14, 1994.
