Alexios Schandermani (born October 25, 1953 in Tehran ) is an Iranian author .

Life

Alexios Schandermani was born in Tehran , Iran . His father was a leftist politician. In 1953, the CIA overthrew the Iranian government and brought Shah Mohammad Reza Pahlavi to power. His father was arrested and sentenced to death. But he managed to escape from prison and drive to the USSR , where he was granted political asylum. In 1961 Alexios Schandermani emigrated with his mother to the USSR, where the family was united. In the same year he began his school education in Moscow . Four years later he was sent to the Interdom international boarding school in Ivanovo . In 1971 he finished his school education. From 1974 to 1978 he studied at the Pedagogical University in Tajikistan . In 1979, after the fall of the Shah, he returned to Iran, but he was arrested at Mehrabad Airport in Tehran and after 4 days deported from Iran to West Berlin , where he applied to the German authorities for political asylum. From 1983 to 1991 he studied Slavic Studies at the Free University of Berlin .

In 1995 Alexios Schandermani was deployed in the crisis area of ​​the Chechnya conflict. This was part of a project delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross ICRC . In doing so, he initially took on the role of a translator. Later he was responsible for the drinking water supply of the city of Grozny and supplied Chechen hospitals in the mountains with medicines. Transporting the wounded was just as much a part of his field of activity as the registration of prisoners of war and the exchange of prisoners. So he established contact with Chechen rebel leader Aslan Maskhadov and negotiated the exchange of prisoners with him. In addition to his Russian language skills, he could constructively use the basic cultural and political knowledge resulting from his Iranian origin. In 1996 he worked as a translator in Afghanistan . This mission was also a project delegation from the International Committee of the Red Cross ICRC. Even during his work in Afghanistan, he did more than just transmit language. Just as in Chechnya in Afghanistan, the transport of the wounded was just as much a part of his field of activity as the registration of prisoners of war and the exchange of prisoners. In 2002 he worked for Deutsche Welthungerhilfe in the northern Afghan city of Mazar-e Sharif .

In 2009 he took part in the European Festival of the Russian Language in St. Petersburg . From 35,000 participants, 500 were selected and invited to St. Petersburg, where they could put their language skills to the test in a final round. Alexios Schandermani secured second place.

In 2011 he took part in the song competition that took place as part of the International Festival of the Russian Language in St. Petersburg. 600 out of 65,000 participants were selected and invited to St. Petersburg, where he secured a place in the final with his self-composed song Love story .

On October 25, 2013, with his song Peace , he became one of the winners of the Chaika competition , which was dedicated to the 50th anniversary of the flight of the first woman into eel Valentina Tereschkowa .

On October 25, 2013, he released his music album Hello New York in New York with 33 self-composed songs in English, Russian, German and Persian.

In 2015 he became one of the winners of the sixth international photo competition “From the perspective of a foreigner” (Russian: “Vsgljad inostranza”), which was initiated by the library of President BN Yeltsin St. Petersburg.

On October 25, 2018, he released his music album Persian Gypsy in New York with 11 songs he composed himself in English, Russian, German and Persian.
