Alexis Kolb

Josef Alexander "Alexis" Kolb , pseudonym A. Hilfgern , (born July 6, 1865 in Breitenbach ; † 1917 ) was a postmaster, writer and storyteller from the Bohemian Ore Mountains .

He came from the hammer mill settlement in Breitenbach, located directly on the Saxon-Bohemian border across from Johanngeorgenstadt , where he was born as the son of the certified veterinarian Josef Anton Laurenz Kolb. His grandfather was the wall clock manufacturer Egidius Dotter from Dresden . During and after his school days his literary streak was recognized and promoted. For a long time he worked as a postmaster in Potscherad and left behind several stories about his homeland, which were reprinted until the 1960s.

The Society for the Promotion of German Science, Art and Literature in Bohemia, which was converted into the German Academy of Sciences and Arts in Bohemia , promoted his writing activities in the two years 1906 and 1909 with a total of 500 crowns.

Sometimes he also wrote under the pseudonym A. Hilfgern. His best-known works include funny things from the Ore Mountains and Father Hahn . He has been missing since the war year 1917.
