Egidius Dotter (born August 31, 1783 in Vöhrenbach , † June 17, 1868 in Cotta ) was a Saxon wall clock manufacturer.

Dotter came from the Black Forest , where he completed an apprenticeship as a watchmaker and then went to Lunzenau in the Kingdom of Saxony . There he traded in Black Forest watches, which was hindered by the state by several hurdles. This gave Dotter the idea of producing wall clocks based on the model from the Black Forest in Saxony. He started doing this shortly before 1830 in Wermsdorf . He built a watch factory in Hubertusburg Castle , which he relocated to Dresden in 1837 , where it was successfully continued in Friedrichstadt for several decades.

In 1839 he went to the watch factory in Carlsfeld in the Western Ore Mountains as a foreman . There he had production converted based on the Dresden model. When there were internal disputes in Carlsfeld in 1854 because of the relocation of work steps in home work, Egidius Dotter returned to Dresden. His daughter Rosa, who had been married to Apollonia Fellnach from Langenerbach in the Grand Duchy of Baden in 1816 , stayed in the Ore Mountains. She had married the veterinarian Kolb in the Bohemian town of Breitenbach . Their son Alexis Kolb worked as a writer and storyteller in addition to his postmaster job.
