Alférez (from arab. الفارس al-fāris = the knight , the rider ) is a military officer candidate - or officer rank in the Spanish army or the armed forces of other Spanish-speaking countries and corresponds in German depending on a senior ensign or lieutenant .
Alférez de Fragata
In Spain and Peru there is also the rank of Alférez de Fragata in the navy , which corresponds to an ensign at sea.
Portugal
In Portugal and many Portuguese-speaking countries , the comparable grade is called Alferes .
