The Alfa-5 ( ALFA 5, SA - Segurança Patrimonial Industrial e ) is a state-owned security company in Angola . It was founded in February 1993 by João de Matos and several other Angolan generals and is 100% owned by the state-owned diamond company Endiama . The company controls 50% of the security-relevant processes on the countless diamond exploration areas in Angola. Francisco Guerra is the managing director . Alfa-5 specializes in realizing national assets such as B. to secure industrial plants and diamond mining areas, as well as individuals with its 1,800 employees nationwide.

Originally, the main objective of the company was to protect the sensitive diamond area, mainly due to the resurgence of armed conflicts after the 1992 elections in Angola and the associated invasion of native Angolan and foreign Garimpeiros from the Democratic Republic of the Congo . The aim was to prevent rough diamonds from being illegally smuggled abroad from the Lunda mining regions in the north-west of the country.

The most important customers include the diamond industry, banks and some private customers outside the diamond industry.

In February 2006, Alfa-5 received the "Arch of Europe" award for international security and technology, which was presented by the Business Initiative Directions Awards , in Frankfurt am Main . The prize is awarded annually to outstanding companies, organizations and business people around the world. Alfa-5 was the first Angolan company to receive this award.
