Alfons Gerz
Alfons Gerz (born May 16, 1913 in Düsseldorf ; † March 27, 1995 ) was a German journalist.
Life
After graduating from high school in 1932, he studied German, music and theater studies in Cologne. In 1933 he began a traineeship at Wolff's telegraph office , and from 1935 to 1945 he worked for the German news office in Berlin .
Gerz founded the Sport-Informations-Dienst (SID) in September 1945 and gave it a face as editor-in-chief for many years. He later became a managing partner of the company.
He was a member of the Scientific Advisory Board of the German Sports Association and from 1964 to 1968 honorary professor at the German Sports University in Cologne with a teaching position for sports journalism.
