Alfons Klein (artist)

Alfons Klein (born April 13, 1905 in Esslingen am Neckar ; † March 12, 1983 in Munich ) was a German painter, sculptor and state politician.

Life

Klein attended grammar school in Günzburg and the teachers' seminar in Eichstätt and then worked as an intern and drawing teacher at a number of trade schools, including the arts and crafts school in Munich. From 1928 on he worked as a freelance painter and sculptor. In 1955 he began to head the department for applied arts in the district association of visual artists in Munich, in 1961 he became president of the professional association of visual artists in Munich. From 1960 to 1974 he was President of the State Professional Association of Visual Artists of Bavaria and from 1966 to 1972 President of the State Professional Association of Visual Artists of the Federal Republic of Germany and co-founder of the Social Fund for Visual Artists in Bavaria. From January 1, 1962 to December 31, 1973 he was a member of the Bavarian Senate .
