Alfons Paul

Alfons Paulus (born December 8, 1918 in Saarbrücken - Malstatt ; † November 28, 1987 in Losheim ) was a German doctor and politician of the SVP .

Life and career

After completing his studies in medicine with a doctorate to become a Dr. med. Paulus began his career as a doctor and established a practice in Losheim in 1948. In 1953 he was elected to the representative assembly of the Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians (KV) Saar. In 1964 he was elected the first chairman of the Saarland regional association of the professional association of general practitioners and general practitioners in Germany (BPA). Later he was treasurer of the BPA at the federal level and from 1973 to 1974 its first federal chairman. From March 1967 to 1983 he held the office of chairman of the KV Saar, during which time he was a member of the board of the National Association of Statutory Health Insurance Physicians for four years. In 1974 he was appointed to the medical council. In 1981 Paulus was elected chairman of the Saarland state committee for family, health and social order, it was his last major office. In addition, he also wrote several articles for the annual Merzig district home books.

Paulus was also active in local politics, he was a member of the local council and the Merziger district assembly . From 1960 to 1965 he held a mandate in the Saarland state parliament for one electoral term .
