Alfonso Portugal Díaz (born January 21, 1934 in Mexico City , † June 12, 2016 in Atlixco ) was a Mexican football player who played in defense and defensive midfield .

Alfonso Portugal began his professional career at Club Necaxa , for which he played in the 1955/56 season. After the 1957/58 season he left Necaxa and allegedly moved to the second division CD Poza Rica , before he was under contract with Club America from the beginning of the 1959/60 season until at least the end of the 1964/65 season. Then he played for the UNAM Pumas , where he was under contract at least in the 1966/67 season.

National team

Portugal made his debut in the Mexican national team on March 4, 1956 in a game against Peru, which was lost 2-0.
