Alfred Döblin Medal

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Alfred Döblin Medal (spelling: Alfred Döblin Medal ) is a German literary prize that has been awarded by the Academy of Sciences and Literature in Mainz since 2015 .

Authors are to be honored for “first promising publications and their entire literary work to date”. In addition, the award winner has the right to propose for the following year, with the Academy choosing a new award winner from three proposals. The name is reminiscent of Alfred Döblin as co-founder of the Mainz Academy, to whom we owe the establishment of a class of literature.

The prize is endowed with 5000 euros (as of 2020). The basis is a testamentary foundation by the married couple Georg and Margarete Martz.
