Alfred Hansen Monument
The Alfred Hansen Monument is a memorial erected in honor of the former Mayor of Tromsøysund , Alfred Hansen , in the Norwegian city of Tromsø .
It is located in the Tromsdalen district a few meters southwest of the Arctic Cathedral in the Bruparken park, not far from the confluence of the Iver Walnum veg on the Turistvegen .
The memorial was created in 1963 by the sculptor Emma Matthiasen . It consists of a stone standing upright on a base in which two bronze plates are embedded. The upper plate shows a portrait of Alfred Hansen. On the lower plate is the inscription commemorating the mayor and his death in a plane crash:
