Alfred Baxmann

Alfred Baxmann (born June 6, 1949 ) is a German politician ( SPD ). From 2004 to 2019 he was the full-time mayor of the Lower Saxony city ​​of Burgdorf , which belongs to the Hanover region.

He has been a member of the SPD since 1969. From 1972 to 1979 he was a member of the Dachtmissen municipal council . Dachtmissen was an independent municipality and was incorporated into Burgdorf in 1974 as part of the regional reform . From 1979 to 1981 he was a member of the municipal association of Greater Hanover , from 1981 to 1986 a member of the city council in Burgdorf.

In 1996, Alfred Baxmann was elected honorary mayor of Burgdorf. The mayor has been a full-time mayor since 2004; Baxmann won the 2004 election with 54.5 percent of the valid votes. In 2011 he was confirmed in office with 59.8 percent of the valid votes and a turnout of 54.3 percent. He did not run for the 2019 mayoral election. His successor in Burgdorf was Armin Pollehn ( CDU ).

Alfred Baxmann is married and has two children.
