The Dahlmann cave is a river cave in the central Devonian mass limestone near Balve . It is located on the eastern slope of the Hönnetal between the Balver districts of Volkringhausen and Sanssouci .
The cave is 31 meters long. In the rear area it becomes increasingly narrow and increases slightly. The entrance area is 1.80 meters wide and 1.20 meters high. The interior of the cave shows washouts from bygone times, no stalactites and little sintering . Small finds from the pre-Roman Iron Age indicate a settlement.
In December 1951, local researcher Beck described a find with a "simple edge of a shell, core gray-black, coarsely leaned with calcite, outside and inside gray-brown, smoothed in horizontal lines".
The cave is owned by the Rheinisch-Westfälische Kalkwerke and was placed under protection on December 12, 1991 as a ground monument . It is not open to the public.
