Alfred Behre

Alfred Behre (born June 21, 1876 in Hamburg ; † 1949 ) was a German chemist . He was director of the Altona Chemical Research Institute.

Life

He was born in Hamburg as the son of the businessman Conrad Adolf Behre and his wife Emilie nee Hanemann. His ancestors were doctors, pharmacists and clergy. After attending the Johanneum High School in Hamburg, he studied at the university, where he was awarded a Dr. phil. PhD. The topic of his dissertation in 1901 was contributions to the knowledge of the O-acyl compounds of some ketonic acid esters, diketones and related bodies.

In 1906 Alfred Behre became director of the city chemical investigation office in Chemnitz , where he stayed until 1924 and then moved to Altona. He had the title of professor.

family

Alfred Behre married Maja Halgreen, whose father came from Denmark-Sweden, the mother came from Westphalia. The marriage resulted in a daughter and two sons.
