Alfred Eß (born October 7, 1921 in Feldkirch ; † June 17, 2005 in Göfis ) was an Austrian politician ( VdU , FPÖ ) and municipal employee. From 1959 to 1983 Eß was a member of the Vorarlberg state parliament .

Alfred Eß was born on October 7, 1921 as the son of Federal Railroad employee Franz Eß and his wife Anna in the Altenstadt district of Feldkirch . After attending the Altenstadt elementary school and the Feldkirch secondary school, he worked as a laborer for a year before continuing his training at the Feldkirch commercial school . From 1937 Eß worked as a commercial clerk at the Feldkircher public utility company. On February 5, 1941, the then 19-year-old Alfred Eß was drafted into military service, where he was awarded the Wound Badge in Black and the Crimean Shield of the German Wehrmacht .

After returning from the war, Eß returned to the service of Stadtwerke Feldkirch on July 1, 1945. In 1949 he became a member of the Association of Independents , a predecessor of the Freedom Party of Austria . After the VdU was absorbed into the FPÖ, Alfred Eß became the press and propaganda officer of the FPÖ Vorarlberg in 1958. After the state election in 1959 , he was also able to move into the state parliament for the first time on October 29, 1959. In the state parliament he was club chairman of the FPÖ from 1969 to 1983. He was also a member of the city ​​council of his hometown Feldkirch from 1958 to 1960 and again from 1965 to 1975 .

In 1968 Alfred Eß was appointed provisional director of Feldkircher Stadtwerke, which he remained until November 30, 1974. Then he was the commercial director of the municipal utilities until his retirement at the turn of the year 1981/82. Eß remained a member of the Vorarlberg state parliament until February 15, 1983, when he voluntarily resigned his seat.

Alfred Eß, who had been married since 1943 and had three children, died on June 17, 2005 in Göfis.
