Alfred Emmerlich

Alfred Emmerlich (born May 10, 1928 in Osnabrück ; † March 31, 2017 ) was a German lawyer and politician ( SPD ).

Life and work

After attending secondary school and the teacher training college, Emmerlich was drafted into the Navy in November 1944 and took part in World War II as a soldier . He put 1949 down its Abitur and then began studying the law, which he in 1957 with the second legal state examination and awarded the degree of Dr. jur. finished.

Emmerlich joined the Lower Saxony judicial service in 1957 as a court assessor, was appointed regional judge in Osnabrück in 1962 and senior judge in Oldenburg in 1970 . In 1972 he was appointed to the Osnabrück Regional Court. He did not even take up this position because he was elected to the Bundestag in the same year. After leaving the Bundestag, he intended to run for the office of Lord Mayor in Osnabrück, but was defeated by his fellow party member Hans-Jürgen Fip in a battle vote. He later worked as a lawyer in Osnabrück.

Emmerlich was elected to the German Bundestag in the 1972 Bundestag election, to which he was a member until 1990. From 1972 to 1976 and from 1980 to 1983 he represented the Osnabrück constituency in parliament. From 1976 to 1980 and from 1983 to 1990 he was drafted into the Bundestag via the Lower Saxony state list. From 1976 to May 22, 1977 he was deputy chairman of the Legal Committee . In 1983 he was elected deputy chairman of the SPD parliamentary group. He was also a member of the Legal Committee.
