Alfred Gall

Alfred Gall (* 1971 in Walenstadt ) is a Swiss literary scholar and Slavist .

Life

Alfred Gall studied in Zurich and Saint Petersburg . After receiving his doctorate in 2000, he conducted research in Warsaw and Tübingen in 2001 and 2002 . After completing his habilitation in 2004, he was visiting professor at the Humboldt University in Berlin in 2005 . Since 2006 he has been Professor of West Slavic Literature and Cultural Studies at Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz and Scientific Director of the Mainz Polonicum.

His main research interests are Polish and Russian literature and culture of the 19th and 20th centuries, systems theory , post-structuralism and (neo-) pragmatism .
