Alfred Rappaport

Alfred Rappaport (* 1932 ) is an American economist .

Alfred Rappaport taught 28 years at the JL Kellogg School of Management in Evanston , Illinois , part of the Chicago Northwestern University and was the Alcar Group Inc. before. Together with Joel Stern, he developed the shareholder value approach in 1986 and authored various books on the subject. He has been a guest columnist for the Wall Street Journal , the New York Times, and BusinessWeek and a corporate consultant. He is now retired and lives in La Jolla , California .
