Alfred Rattray

Alfred Adolphus Rattray (born January 19, 1925 in Saint Ann , † March 20, 2005 ) was a Jamaican lawyer, diplomat and politician of the People's National Party (PNP).

Life

Rattray first attended Porus Primary School, then Excelsior High School, before studying at the London School of Economics . From 1949 he worked in the public service in Jamaica. From 1964 he worked for the law firm Myers, Fletcher & Gordon, and became a partner in the firm the following year. Between 1961 and 1975 he was also a lecturer at the University of the West Indies . From 1975 to 1980 he was Jamaica's Ambassador to Washington, DC ( USA ) and to the Organization of American States . Rattray was a member of the Senate from 1989 until his retirement in 2002.

Rattray was married and had two children.
