Alfred Schönian
Alfred Schönian (born March 16, 1856 in Frankfurt (Oder) , † after 1936 in Munich ) was a German animal and landscape painter.
Schönian began his studies at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Leipzig with the sculptor Melchior zur Straßen .
From April 24, 1877 he continued his studies at the Royal Academy of Arts in Munich with Gyula Benczúr and Johann Leonhard Raab .
After graduating, he stayed in Munich as a freelance artist. He dealt with animal and landscape painting.
He mainly painted the poultry and domestic animals, often in the middle of the landscape, but also genre pictures , portraits and pictures with fairy tale characters. Many of his works have appeared in print as postcards and in illustrated magazines.
