Alfred Schütze (painter)

Alfred Schütze (born September 1, 1892 in Dresden ; † April 18, 1969 there ) was a German painter and commercial artist .

Life

Alfred Schütze first learned the art of lithography in a lithographic institute and attended evening school for artistic training. In 1914 he was immediately accepted into the main class at the Dresden School of Applied Arts, where he studied graphic arts and painting under Georg Etler , Woldemar Müller and Max Feldbauer . After receiving several awards and high scholarships, he moved together with Professor Feldbauer in 1918 to the Dresden Art Academy , which had emerged from the School of Applied Arts , where he studied under Ludwig von Hofmann . To complete his studies, he was assigned a master's studio.

He and his parents moved to Meißen in 1918 , where he was able to hold a first exhibition in the premises of the Meißner Kunstverein. Several prizes enabled him to continue studying in Dresden. In 1919 he was a laureate for the painting of the main office building in Meissen.

From 1933 he turned to portrait and landscape painting . During the war he was drafted into the police emergency service in 1942 and in the armed forces in August 1944. At the beginning of May 1945 he went into American captivity in Köttewitz near Pirna . After his release he lived and worked again in Meissen.

In the following years he took part in various art exhibitions in Dresden, Meißen and Freiberg . Hans Vollmer mentions about his work: figurative, especially representations from industry . He also taught amateur artists at the Meissen porcelain factory .
