Alfred Schifferli (born January 20, 1912 in Sempach ; † March 19, 2007 there ) was a Swiss ornithologist .

After studying zoology in Basel , Schifferli headed the Swiss Ornithological Observatory in Sempach, which his father had made a significant contribution, from 1934 , initially on a voluntary basis and from 1945 to 1974 full-time. During this time the Swiss Ornithological Institute developed into an internationally renowned ornithological research, observation and teaching station. Schifferli was the initiator and editor of the first dissemination atlas of breeding birds in Switzerland, published in 1980 , the conception and methodological structure of which became trend-setting for many subsequent publications of this type.
