Alfred Schindler (theologian)

Alfred Schindler (born December 31, 1934 ; † November 19, 2012 ) was a Swiss Reformed theologian .

Life

Alfred Schindler studied theology in Zurich , Basel , Heidelberg and Rome . In 1963 he received his doctorate from the University of Zurich , in 1965 he received his habilitation in the field of church and dogma history and in 1966 he was appointed associate professor . In 1970 he was appointed professor of ancient church history at Heidelberg University . From 1979 to 1990 he taught as a full professor at the University of Bern . In 1990 he returned to the University of Zurich as a full professor and at the same time took over the management of the Institute for the History of the Swiss Reformation. In 2000 he retired . Since 1959 he was married to the author Regine Schindler .
