Regine Schindler

Regine Schindler-Hürlimann (born May 26, 1935 in Berlin ; † June 8, 2013 in Uerikon near Zurich ) was a Swiss German scholar and writer . She was particularly known as an author of religious books for children and young people and an expert on children's Bibles .

Life

Regine Schindler was born in Berlin as the daughter of the publishers Martin and Bettina Hürlimann . After the family moved to Switzerland, she spent her school days in Zurich . She studied German and history in Zurich and Berlin; In 1962 she did her doctorate under Emil Staiger with a thesis on Wieland's view of man. In 1959 she married the theologian and church historian Alfred Schindler, who died on November 19, 2012 . With him she ran a reformed student house in Zurich from 1967 to 1970. Since 1992 she lived in Uerikon on Lake Zurich . On November 15, 2007, she handed over her 1700-title collection of historical and current children's Bibles to the Practical Theological Seminar of the University of Zurich in the hands of Prof. Thomas Schlag . There it is maintained as the “Regine Schindler Collection” and is supported by the Swiss National Science Foundation. Based on this collection, several dissertations on Swiss children's Bibles were written at the University of Zurich .

From 1983 to 1991, Regine Schindler worked as editor of the ecumenical journal steps into the open . Between 1984 and 2001 she was on the Board of Trustees of the Swiss Youth Book Institute . She was a member of the Swiss authors ' association . She found her final resting place in the Enzenbühl cemetery in Zurich .
