Alfred Sommerfeld

Alfred Sommerfeld (born August 24, 1928 in Berlin-Staaken ; † March 24, 2000 in Berlin ) was a German farmer and member of the Berlin House of Representatives .

Alfred Sommerfeld was born as the son of Betty Agnes Emilie Mathilde Sommerfeld (née Schulze) (born October 19, 1904, † 1984) and the farmer Alfred Erich Artur Sommerfeld (born September 7, 1903, † 1975). His sister is Gertrud Beelitz (née Sommerfeld) (born July 4, 1934). Alfred Sommerfeld was a student at the Freiherr-vom-Stein-Oberschule in Berlin-Spandau from 1938 to 1946 , where he graduated from high school. From 1947 to 1950 he studied veterinary medicine at the Humboldt University in Berlin . On December 1, 1950, he married Ingeborg Emilie Minna Helene Runge (* July 4, 1930 - March 1, 1987), born in Mützlitz ( Brandenburg ), with whom he has two children: the son Alfred Herrmann Karl, born in 1951, and the 1954 born daughter Marianne Gertrud Betty.

In 1949 he took over his parents' farm. On July 18, 1952, he joined the CDU . Since 1954 he was active as a citizens' deputy in local politics and was deputy district chairman (Spandau) for several years. His wife Ingeborg joined the CDU on September 4, 1957. From 1958 to 1967 Alfred Sommerfeld was district councilor for Spandau and in 1965 he held the parliamentary chairmanship. From March 1967 he was a member of the Berlin House of Representatives. On June 21, 1974, he received the Federal Cross of Merit on ribbon from the hand of Parliament's Vice- President Peter Lorenz .
