Alfred Thewanger

Alfred Thewanger (born July 31, 1936 in Bruck an der Mur ; † July 8, 1996 in Linz ) was an Austrian lawyer and politician .

Life

Born as the son of an industrial lawyer and director of VÖEST , Thewanger studied law in Graz and Vienna . During his studies in 1956 he became a member of the Marcho-Teutonia Graz fraternity . He was promoted to Dr. iur. PhD . After his legal training and his bar exam, he opened a law firm in Linz in 1970 . In 1972 he joined the FPÖ , was a member of the Linz municipal council from 1973 to 1991 and became a member of the state party executive and the federal party leadership in 1973. In 1991 he became a member of the Upper Austrian state parliament , where he was club chairman of the FPÖ until 1996 .
