Alfredo Germán Moreno Charme (* 1956 in Santiago de Chile ) is a Chilean manager and politician .

biography

After completing school at Colegio San Ignacio El Bosque, he studied civil engineering at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile (PUC). He then completed his postgraduate studies of business administration at the University of Chicago and ended it with a Masters in Business Administration (MBA) .

He then began his professional career in the private sector and was, among other things, director of companies such as Banco de Chile, Homecenter Sodimac and Grupo Luksic, as well as president of ICARE, a company promoting business settlement in Chile. Later he was director of the Ladeco airline and of Radio Minería. Due to his extensive economic activities, he also dealt with maintaining relations with the USA . He was also a member of the International Council of the Dom Cabral Foundation in Brazil and the Global Advisory Board of the School of Business at the University of Chicago.

In addition, he was president of the Foundation Fundación Teletón Chile, the Chilean once a year since 1978 television organized a fundraising campaign to promote facility for children and adolescents. He was also Vice-President of the International Organization of Teletón and Director of the Paz Ciudadana Foundation.

On 9 February 2010 him of the nominated presidential elections 2009/2010 as the new president of Chile elected Sebastián Piñera to the Foreign Minister . After Piñera had taken the oath of office, he officially took over the office of Foreign Minister after the cabinet was sworn in on March 11, 2010, succeeding Mariano Fernández . Moreno is a member of the Unión Demócrata Independiente (UDI) party.
