The Algeco GmbH is a service company with headquarters in Kehl . The company designs and builds modular buildings as temporary or permanent residential, work or school and kindergarten buildings. The Algeco GmbH with its 14 locations and around 500 employees in Germany belongs to the international Algeco Scotsman Group.

history

Algeco was founded in 1955 in Mâcon, France, as a rental company for storage facilities in viticulture. The company later expanded its business model to include the rental of tank wagons, and in 1966 VTG , a wagon rental company that was already part of Preussag , joined Algeco. Founded in 1972 in Kehl and active in the container rental sector, MBM MietSysteme has been part of Algeco since 1990. In 1996, Algeco took over the construction machinery and construction site accommodation rental company Hada.

The Preussag Group, now renamed TUI, sold its shares in Algeco to the financial investor TDR Capital in 2004.

Since 2004

Under the direction of TDR Capital, Algeco was rebuilt and numerous companies were integrated into the group. In 2005 the British Elliott Group was bought and in 2006 the newly founded Algeco GmbH in Germany merged with its sister company Hada. In 2007, the US-based company William Scotsman was taken over by TDR Capital and merged with Algeco to form today's Algeco Scotsman Group. In the same year, TDR Capital completes the takeover of GE Modular Space and integrates the company into the newly founded Algeco Scotsman Group. GE Modular Space was part of the GE Equipment Services division , part of the General Electric Group that is also active in Germany .

In the following years the company expanded further and in 2011 took over Ausco in Australia and Portacom in New Zealand and in 2013 the Eurobras Group in Brazil and Target Logistics in the USA.

Corporate structure

The company has two business areas, the rental of containers and the construction of turnkey, mobile buildings for living, learning and working. The solutions range from temporary buildings for rent to high quality permanent buildings. Thanks to the modular construction , the buildings remain spatially flexible after completion. A change of use, an extension, conversion or dismantling as well as a change of location are possible.

Algeco modular assembly

Algeco has locations in Europe , Asia , Australia and New Zealand . With the exception of Great Britain (Elliott), the company operates in Europe under the brand name Algeco. In Australia, Algeco operates under Ausco, in New Zealand under Portacom and in China under Algeco Chengdong.
