Algonquin State Forest is a state forest in the US state of Connecticut in the area of ​​the parishes of Colebrook and Winchester . The state forest was established in 1937 with 92 acres (37 ha) and grew to 2545 acres (1030 ha) mainly through donations. It extends over various parcels in the municipality.

The Algonquin State Forest is one of a number of protected areas on Connecticut's northern border. The area belongs with the Sandy Brook to the catchment area of ​​the Farmington River . The park itself is in the mountainous hinterland of Torrington . It extends roughly in a semicircle to the west from the northeastern Colebrook River Lake to the river valley of the Sandy Brook, which extends south. Right tributaries of Sandy Brook from the south are Center Brook and Wright Brook . The highest point in the park rises to 427 m (1,400 ft).

In direct relation to the park lies the Charles Arnold Recreation Area on Eno Hill further east and the Tunxis State Forest further east .
