Ali Akbar ibn Hussain

Ali Akbar ibn Hussain (* 662 - † October 13, 680 , Arabic علي الأكبر بن الحسين, DMG ʿAlī al-akbar b. al-Ḥusain ) was the son of Imam al-Husain ibn ʿAlī and Umm Layla . Ali Akbar played an important role in the Battle of Karbala . At the Battle of Karbala, Ali Akbar died by throwing a spear. His last words were addressed to his father: "Oh father (al-Ḥusain ibn ʿAlī), this is my last greeting to you."

Today's descendants of Husain are known as Sayyid .

Ali Akbar is venerated as a martyr by Shiites .
