Ali Hatami

Abbās Ali Hātami (born August 19, 1944 in Tehran ; † December 7, 1996 there ) was an Iranian filmmaker .

Life

He studied at the Tehran College of Dramatic Art . First he wrote scripts for TV and short film productions . His film career began in 1970 with the film Hasan Katchal (Hasan, the Bald Head) , for whose screenplay he won first prize at the first Iranian Film Festival . In the following years he developed his own style, which was characterized by the use of melodic dialogues and a traditionally Persian-looking set design.

He was married to the actress Zari Khoshkam and had a daughter ( Leilā Hātami - also a well-known actress).
