Ali al-Essawi

Ali al-Essawi (* 1966 in Benghazi , alternative transcription Ali Al Issawi ) is a Libyan politician and former diplomat .

At the Bucharest Academy of Economic Studies gained Issawi a Ph.D. in the field of privatization. In 2005 he became director of the privatization fund Ownership expansion program and the following year director of the Center for Export Development, which he founded .

Al-Essawi later served as the Libyan Minister for Economy, Trade and Investment under Muammar al-Gaddafi . After this activity he was the Libyan ambassador to India for four months . He resigned from his ambassadorial post there on February 21, 2011 in protest against state violence against the demonstrators in the wake of the beginning civil war in Libya .

In the Executive Council established by the National Transitional Council on March 5, 2011, al-Essawi is responsible for the foreign policy department together with Mahmud Jibril .

Ali al-Essawi is married and has several children.
