Alice medal

The Alice Medal was donated on April 25, 1884 by Grand Duke Ludwig IV of Hesse in memory of his wife, Grand Duchess Alice of Hesse , who died on December 14, 1878 . The award honored personalities closely associated with the court. The majority of the awards were given to people from the Alice Association.

The round medal made of silver shows the left-facing portrait of the Grand Duchess with the inscription ALICE GRAND DUCHESS OF HESSEN . On the reverse, enclosed by a laurel wreath , the two-line inscription IN MEMORIAM .

The award was worn on a white ribbon or a lady's bow with a wide red central and light blue side stripe on the left side of the chest.
