The Alice Salomon Park is located in the Berlin district of Schöneberg in the street square of Eisenach , Freising , Karl-Schrader and Barbarossastraße .

Emergence

A previously unnamed green space was upgraded to a park by the Schöneberg District Office (since 2001: BA Tempelhof-Schöneberg) taking into account existing trees and bushes and was named after Alice Salomon (1872-1948), a liberal social reformer in December 12, 2000 the German women's movement and pioneer of social work .

In 2010, the district office had the benches in the park removed. Residents were annoyed that there was a " drinking scene " in the park . The park was therefore popularly known as the "Penner Park".

The park, which was redesigned from October to December 2015, was given a new playground and a table tennis table on this occasion. The changed route now follows the historical course of the Schwäbische Strasse between Barbarossaplatz and Grunewaldstrasse. In addition, the green area is perceived much better.

In 2017, parents discovered around 100 strong, sharp needles in various places on the digging area, which had apparently been deliberately hidden. But nobody was injured. The informed public order office had all the sand put in order by a professional sand cleaner, for which around 500 euros had to be raised. A polluter could not be found.

Design

In the park there is a playground with double swings, spring-loaded wooden animals and a slide. There are also some play huts with a picnic table as well as a football field and a table tennis table.

Surroundings

The house on the edge of the park from the 1950s from the construction program at the time ( Barbarossastraße 59/60) was demolished in 2013 despite extensive protests in favor of a new building with condominiums . As a result, the park lost a small part of its area.

To compensate for this, the park was renovated and redesigned in late autumn 2015: the playground received new play equipment, the main path was paved and now also open to cyclists. New trees and shrubs were planted. The Hoch-Tief company spent the costs of around 270,000 as a compensatory measure for a new building on Barbarossaplatz, but ultimately passed the costs on to the buyers of the apartments.
