Alison Thewliss

Alison Thewliss (born September 13, 1982 ) is a British politician of the Scottish National Party (SNP). The mother of two is a member of the Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament .

Political career

Thewliss was elected to the Glasgow Regional Council in the Calton district for the SNP . There she was spokeswoman for the SNP for city and environmental services.

In the British general election in 2015 , the SNP Thewliss in the constituency of Glasgow Central . She competed against the Labor candidate Anas Sarwar , who had won the constituency's mandate in the previous elections by a clear margin. After the SNP gained massive votes in these elections, Thewliss achieved the highest percentage of votes with 52.5% and subsequently entered the British House of Commons for the first time . There she is a member of the committee for local and regional governments. Despite losing votes, Thewliss maintained her mandate in the early general election in 2017 .
