The Alcazar Stadium ( Greek Στάδιο Αλκαζάρ ) is a football stadium with an athletics facility in the Greek city of Larisa . The facility is located north of the city center and is part of the National Sports Center of Larisa ( Ethniko Athlitiko Kentro Larisas ), EAK for short . The name originated from the vernacular to compare the stadium with the fortresses of the same name in Spain .
history
The Alcazar Stadium was built in 1965 and served the AE Larisa club as the home ground until 2010 and from 2013 to 2015. The publicly owned sports facility was last renovated in the summer of 2004 on the occasion of the club's resurgence. As part of this work, all standing spaces were converted into seats, reducing the capacity from 18,000 to around 13,000. In addition, a new floodlight system was installed, the interior renovated and the main grandstand roofed over. The dimensions of the playing field of the stadium are 105 × 68 meters.
After the first team moved to the AEL FC Arena , the U20s from AE Larisa used the stadium as a venue.
