Alkimedon (son of Laerkes)
Alkimedon ( Greek Ἀλκιμέδων ) is a figure in Greek mythology .
Alkimedon was the son of Laërkes and one of the five leaders of the Myrmidons before Troy , so he belonged to the contingent led by Achilles in the Trojan War .
He fought under the leadership of Patroclus , who had re-entered the war in Achilles' armor. When Patroclus had fallen, he took over the car from Automedon , Achilles' charioteer, who served Patroclus in this battle, so that Automedon could continue fighting on foot. To protect him, Alkimedon stayed very close to the Automedon and secured its back with his horses.
