Alcoholizer is an Italian thrash metal band from Sassari that was formed in 2006.
history
The band was founded in 2006 by guitarist Marco Lai and singer Alessandro Lucariello. After the first four-song demo was published in spring 2007 under the name Demo-lizer , whereupon Fabrizio Fele could be heard as bass player and Gabriele Tanda as drummer, performances all over Italy followed. After that, the debut album Drunk or Dead… was released in 2009 via Punishment 18 Records . For personal reasons, the band paused from 2011 to 2013. After that, the band returned with a different line-up: Fele now also took over the vocals, while Lögan Heads joined the band as the new guitarist and Paul “Darken” Marcelo as the new drummer. Lai was also still in the band as a guitarist. Within two months the band released the EP Sardinian Boars Are Back !!! , as well as a music video for the song Faceless , which came from the EP. This was followed by other appearances. The release of a second album on Punishment 18 Records is planned for the end of 2014.

According to Jonathan Smith from metal-observer.com , the band plays on Drunk or Dead ... retro thrash metal, which is based on 1980s thrash metal. Smith described the band as Italy's answer to Tankard . The riffs are usually played quickly and are reminiscent of bands like Motörhead and Venom and the lyrics are mostly humorous and often have alcohol as a topic. The band is a slightly modernized version of Sodom from the late 1980s. In addition, the band is comparable to Slayer , with the greatest parallels in the vocals, which consist of medium-high shouts and very high screams . Lucariello's vocals sound less threatening compared to Tom Araya's . The album is similar in speed to Persecution Mania and also has a punk attitude like The Morning After .
