All Aboard the Blue Train is the 14th studio album by US country singer Johnny Cash . It was released on November 15, 1962 under the production of Sam Phillips and Jack Clement on Sun Records .

history

The pieces on the album were recorded and released as singles for Sun Records between March 1955 and May 1958 in Memphis . In the liner notes of the album cover designed by Neil Lewis, the producers state that, in response to numerous fan requests, they have put together songs on the subject of “Zug” for an album. With the exception of There You Go , Goodbye Little Darlin 'Goodbye and So Doggone Lonesome , all of the songs deal with trains or travel itself. The album was released four years after Cash moved from Sun Records to Columbia Records .

In 2002 there was an officially licensed follow-up release on Get Back Records . In 2003 the album was re-released as a CD version with six bonus tracks, including three alternative versions for songs already on the original album.

Reviews

In a contemporary Billboard Magazine review , the album was named a collection of Johnny Cash's best pieces, and although the tracks are three years and older, the artist's fans would love the album. Michael B. Smith from Allmusic sees it similarly, noting that Cash presents himself with the album as what is his strength as a great storyteller and singer. Smith certifies that the artist has a flair for “traditional country folk”, the selection of songs is excellent and the production flawless.
