Allan Lichtman

Allan Jay Lichtman (born April 4, 1947 in Brownsville , New York City ) is an American historian and political scientist.

Life

Allan Lichtman attended Stuyvesant High School and studied history at Brandeis University . He received his PhD from Harvard University in 1973 . Since then he has taught in Washington, DC at the American University , which appointed him professor in 1980.

Lichtman was repeated by non-governmental organizations in legal battles to civil rights named as an expert. He worked as an advisor to the Democratic politicians Al Gore and Edward Kennedy . After the 2000 presidential election , he investigated the electoral irregularities in Florida state. In 2006, Lichtman ran unsuccessfully in Maryland's internal Democratic primary as a candidate for the United States Senate .

Together with statistician Jack Moshman, Lichtman developed a forecasting system for the US presidential election based on historical election data . From its first use in 1984 up to and including the 2016 election, it provided correct predictions. The book Keys to the White House in 1996 published the first time. After the 2016 election, he commented on the question of impeachment and predicted that Trump would not survive his first term as president.
