Allan Rae (composer)
Allan Rae (born July 3, 1942 in Blairmore ) is a Canadian composer and music teacher.
After three years as a trumpeter in a military band in Calgary, Rae studied composition and arrangement at Berklee College of Music in Boston. From 1966 to 1970 he worked as a composer and conductor for radio and television for CBC Calgary. He then studied electronic music at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto with Samuel Dolin until 1973 . He taught at the Royal Conservatory for a year and then returned to Calgary.
Rae composed chamber music works, instrumental concerts and symphonies, as well as several musicals and plays. In 1985 he became composer in residence for the Alberta Theater Projects . He is a member of the Canadian League of Composers and an associate of the Canadian Music Center .
